Sexy Summer Saturday 6/16/12

Sexy Summer Saturdays is a weekly post that Hackaroo’s Reviews, Sims-Sational BooksThe Autumn Review, and The Bookish Babe created for fun, to spread the word about sizzling summer reads.

This week’s Triple “S” read is:

Goodreads Description:

Our journey began in fire…

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness—beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds… and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart…

So I was really excited to read this book. The blurb sounded hot and I figured it would be purrrrrrrfect for my Sexy Summer Saturday read.

I will start off by saying this has big similarities with Fifty Shades of Grey. A lot of them actually. Which didn’t really bug me. LOL Although I’ve read all three books of that trilolgy, and wasn’t a HUGE fan, I found this book so much better.

Let’s start off with the story…then we will delve into the part you’re all really here…..the sex 😉

Eva moves to New York to start a brand new career and better herself. She moves closer to her mother and step father. She moves with her best friend Cary, who is a bi-sexual model. No joke 😉 She starts her new career in advertising with one of the biggest ad companies in the country.

Then she meets Gideon Cross and I swear there were sparks flying not only from her, but I’m pretty sure I was feeling it too. I mean Gideon (in my mind) was every woman’s fantasy. I’ve always had a weakness for men with black hair and blue eyes. Not only is he drop dead gorgeous but he exudes this magnetism that captures you. Day made damn sure you felt it when they first met.

From then on, it’s a cat and mouse game until the cat (Gideon) finally gets his mouse (Eva). It’s history from there.

Like I mentioned above, there are a lot of similarities with Fifty Shades of Grey. But even though there are similarities, there are BIG differences as well.

First off, Eva has a back bone. She speaks her mind is brutally honest. I liked that a lot. She’s been through a horrible childhood and it made her more of a real person.

Gideon has had a background but this book doesn’t quite delve into his past yet. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of his past in the next installment.

There were some similarities I found in here with Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire as well. The only similar things I found with this book was the broken characters and the way they matched perfectly to make their relationship work. But that’s it.

The other characters in this book, although they weren’t exactly main characters, also added that special something to the story. Her roomate, Cary, was an amazing addition. He was the other half to Eva in a way that Gideon couldn’t be. Cary is equally and messed up as Eva is and they’ve had each other’s back every time. Plus he’s also gorgeous so you can’t say no to that. 😉 Zac Efron would maybe a good candidate. Except for the whole bisexual part 😉

Now for the sex. *fans self* See? I get all hot just thinking about it. I found that the sex in this book was extremely hot. Give me missionary over BDSM anyday!! LMAO Although this book touches on a very little bit of BDSM, I found that it made this book so much better without it.

Gideon is a strong, virile, horny man and Eva handles it very well. I found myself trying to be in the story. Wanting to be there. Whenever Eva was getting all flushed, I was all flushed. It was AWESOME!

<——- This is my view of Gideon Cross. How can you NOT get all hot and bothered over someone who looks like this?! Seriously.

Now just picture him in a 3 piece suit. *drools*

I think out of all the books I’ve read for this meme, this has to be my top one so far.

Something about Gideon just…..wowza.

This is a book, that I’ll be re-reading in the future I’m sure.

Favorite Quotes:

“Are you all right?” His voice was cultured and smooth, with a rasp that made my stomach flutter. It brought sex to mind. Extraordinary sex. I thought for a moment that he might be able to make me orgasm just by talking long enough. <—-That made me lol

“Oh Eva.” He rubbed his cheek against my damp face. “I must’ve wished for you so hard and so often you had no choice but to come true.”

  1. I’m def gonna have to check this one out. Not sure if the 50 similarities will bother me or not, but we felt the same about 50 so I’m sure I will like this one too!

great review! so glad you found one you liked. No cum in the hair is a good thing, eh? lol

  2. You should have told me you were reading this! I have it. I really liked it too. There were slight similarities to 50, but like you, that didn’t bother me and there was enough of a difference to make the story good for me. LOL Gideon is one hot bastard! Can’t wait to read the next one.

  3. Awesome!! I’ve been eyeing this one for a while, but hadn’t read any reviews.

That dude is hot. He looks familiar.

I will definitely read Bared to You. Soon.

And…it’s no fun unless someone gets cum in their hair.

  4. Fabulous review! I have not read any of Sylvia’s books yet, but have this one on my TBR list already. I love when there is great character development in the story. Don’t get me wrong, I like reading just sexy stories too, but these type of books are ones that suck me in. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 🙂

  5. OMG you pretty much nailed the perfect guy to play Gideon Cross. Who is this man in the picture? Been trying to find who he is but to no avail.
